What is this Automox Tray icon on my desktop?
Automox now has a persistent system Tray experience for Windows and MacOS devices. The Automox Tray provides ongoing visibility into restart and installation deadlines, making it easier for users to take timely action.
The Tray automatically reads the deferral settings from your current patch and reboot policies and uses them to calculate and display a single restart deadline to end users to restart before their system automatically restarts. When the user is ready to restart, they can now click the Automox logo in their Tray (top of desktop for macOS and bottom of desktop for Windows) and click the button to restart now.
Automox Tray - New Features Recap
- Persistent System Tray App: The Automox Tray now appears in the system tray at all times, providing a consistent interface for restart and update notifications.
- Restart Deadline Visibility: Users can clearly see the date and time by which they must restart their device.
- Restart & Install from Tray: Users can reboot or install updates directly from the tray with one click.
- Proactive Reminders: Users receive notifications leading up to restart deadlines, including pop-up alerts at 3 hours, 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 1 minute before the deadline.
- Works Even in DND Mode: Notifications appear even when Do Not Disturb (DND) is enabled, ensuring visibility of critical actions.
Example Notifications with Single Restart Deadline:
Restarting the Device
- Users must restart using the 'Restart Now' button in the tray.
- Restarting through the OS (Start menu, shutdown options, etc.) will not fulfill the Automox policy.
- If the user does not restart before the deadline:
- The system will restart automatically after the final reminder.
- If the device is offline, the restart will trigger as soon as it reconnects.
